Overview

Headless depth for US stores, added to your team on your terms

Hiring headless developers for your US store should add capacity to your roadmap without handing the storefront to a vendor you cannot see into. You keep direction over priorities; we bring the headless experience and the hands to build.

What does it mean to hire headless developers for a US store?

It means adding engineers who build the storefront as its own application, connect it to a commerce backend through APIs, and keep it running, as a dedicated team, embedded staff, a scoped project, or a support retainer. They work remotely from our team in India, inside your tools and processes, and you keep day-to-day direction of the work.

We are open about where we are: Ethnic Infotech is a software company based in Surat, India, and our developers work remotely for US clients. The trade-off is simple. You get flexible headless capacity without a US hiring cycle, and we agree working-hours overlap with you up front.

This page is for US stores. For our full offer, see Hire Headless Developers, and for our wider US service line, see Software Development Company USA.

Why US Teams Hire Us

Common reasons US stores bring in dedicated headless developers

A hiring decision like this is usually triggered by a specific, recognizable gap rather than a general staffing preference.

Roadmap Outpacing Capacity

The storefront roadmap keeps growing faster than the current frontend team can realistically ship it.

A US Hiring Search Takes Months

A team that knows modern frontend frameworks and commerce APIs can take months to hire.

Peak Season Is Coming

Holiday traffic and sales events expose slow storefronts, and a headless frontend needs its caching and hosting ready for them.

A Frontend Team New to Commerce

Strong React developers still have to learn carts, checkout, catalogs, and the edge cases of selling online.

A Migration Needs a Dedicated Push

Moving from a theme to a headless storefront is a defined effort on top of the day-to-day roadmap.

Checkout Differs by Backend

On Shopify, buyers go to Shopify's checkout. On Magento, the storefront builds checkout on the APIs, so tax, carriers, and payments have to be wired up on purpose.

A Launched Storefront Needs Care

A headless storefront is an application with releases and API versions to keep current. Shopify, for example, versions its Storefront API quarterly.

Continuity Across Releases

The same developers should still know your codebase months later, not restart context each time.

Ways To Hire

Engagement models for US stores

Scope and team size are agreed around your actual gap, not a fixed package. No rates are shown here, because a number quoted before we understand your stack would be a guess. Pricing is set out in your proposal.

Dedicated Team

Developers working only on your storefront, for steady delivery against a continuous roadmap.

Staff Augmentation

One or two headless developers join your in-house team, follow your processes, and work alongside your own engineers.

Project-Based Engagement

A defined scope against written milestones, such as a storefront build or a move from a theme to headless, then roll off or move to support.

Support & Optimization

A retainer for ongoing fixes, API updates, and performance work after launch.

Frontend

Storefront Engineering

Custom storefronts built as their own applications, with the rendering, caching, and component structure that fast commerce pages need.

  • Next.js and React storefront development
  • Reusable component libraries and design systems
  • Server rendering, caching, and image delivery

Data Layer

Commerce API Integration

The storefront reads and writes commerce data through APIs, so the clients, cart flows, and error handling have to be built carefully.

  • Storefront and GraphQL API clients
  • Cart, customer account, and checkout handoff flows
  • Authentication and session handling

Shopify Backend

Shopify Headless

Custom storefronts on Shopify's APIs, using Hydrogen or your own framework, while Shopify keeps the catalog, carts, and checkout.

Magento Backend

Magento & Adobe Commerce Headless

Storefronts on the Magento or Adobe Commerce GraphQL API, with the checkout built in the storefront. For US stores, that means sales tax, carriers such as UPS and USPS, and payment methods are wired through the APIs on purpose, and licensing is checked up front.

Working Across Time Zones

How working with a team in India works for a US store

These are the practical details US buyers ask about first. Specifics are confirmed in your proposal.

Time zones

Discovery calls, sprint demos, and support windows are scheduled around Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific time.

Working hours

The exact overlap and coverage hours are agreed for each engagement. We do not make blanket promises about availability.

Communication

Slack, Zoom, and Jira, or your own tools, with developers working inside your sprint process.

Contracts and billing

NDA on request, and USD invoicing for US clients.

What a remote team does not give you is a developer in your office, or in your exact time zone all day. If same-hours availability or on-site presence is a hard requirement, say so on the first call and we will tell you plainly whether we are the right fit.

How It Works

A clear path from first call to shipping alongside you

The same four stages apply regardless of team size.

01

Scope

We review your backend, storefront goals, content and hosting setup, and the gap you are filling, then recommend a model.

Output: Recommended fit
02

Match

You meet the specific developers proposed and approve the fit before anything starts.

Output: Confirmed team
03

Embed

Developers join your standups, sprints, and repository, with a visible shared backlog.

Output: Active sprint cycle
04

Scale

Flex the team up or down as the roadmap shifts, without losing codebase context.

Output: Adjusted capacity

Real projects delivered by Ethnic Infotech

We do not currently publish a US headless case study. Tong Garden is our published headless project, for a client in India on a Magento backend. Zolamod (Shopify) and Fusion5 (Magento) are our published US-region projects, on the platforms headless storefronts connect to, and neither is a headless build. None publishes measured results, so none are shown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hiring headless developers for US stores: FAQs

Direct answers about location, time zones, US checkout and tax, and flexibility.

Can I hire headless developers from Ethnic Infotech for my US store?

Yes. We provide dedicated, embedded, and project-based headless commerce developers to US stores. They work remotely from our team in India, inside your tools and sprints, and you keep day-to-day direction of the work.

Where are your developers located?

Ethnic Infotech is a software company based in Surat, India, and our developers work remotely for US clients. This page describes remote delivery. If you need developers physically in the US, tell us on the first call so we can say plainly whether we are the right fit.

How does time zone overlap work for US clients?

Discovery calls, sprint demos, and support windows are scheduled around Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific time. The exact overlap and coverage hours are agreed for each engagement, and we do not make blanket promises about availability. See Working Across Time Zones.

Do you work with Shopify, Magento, and Adobe Commerce backends for US stores?

Yes, all three as backends. Our published US-region projects are a Shopify store (Zolamod) and a Magento modernization (Fusion5), and neither is a headless build. Our published headless project, Tong Garden, is for a client in India. See Selected Work.

Is headless the right choice for our US store?

Not always. A well-built theme is often simpler and cheaper, and headless adds an application you have to own. We say so early, and our headless commerce development services set out when headless fits and when it does not.

How do checkout, sales tax, and shipping work in a headless build?

It depends on the backend. On Shopify, the storefront hands buyers to Shopify's checkout. On Magento, the storefront builds checkout on Magento's APIs, so tax rules, carriers (UPS, USPS, DHL, and FedEx are built in), and payment methods must be wired up and tested. Carrier APIs change, so older setups are worth reviewing. We do not provide tax advice.

Do you provide tax, legal, or compliance advice?

No. We build and configure to the requirements you give us, and we do not provide tax or legal advice or claim compliance certifications such as PCI, accessibility, or state privacy-law compliance. For those questions, work with qualified advisers, and we will implement what they specify.

Do you have US headless case studies?

Not published today. Tong Garden is our published headless project, and our US-region projects, Zolamod and Fusion5, are Shopify and Magento builds. If US headless experience is critical to your decision, ask for specifics on the scoping call and judge the answer before committing. See Selected Work.

How do you scope, quote, and invoice?

Every engagement is scoped to your stack. A clear, itemized quote follows an initial scoping call, and we do not quote hourly rates before understanding your stack. For US clients we invoice in USD, and contract details, including an NDA on request, are confirmed in your proposal. Timing is confirmed on the same call.

How does this compare with hiring in the US?

A US-based hire gives you same-hours presence and local employment. A remote team from India gives you flexible capacity without a hiring cycle, with working-hours overlap agreed up front. Many stores combine a small in-house team with embedded engineers, and we say so plainly if a US hire is the better fit.
